How can I prepare my horse for your visit?
Trimming and shoeing horses is a difficult task even under the best circumstances. When conditions are other than optimal it makes the task much more difficult. I’m not picky or fussy about working conditions, but here are a few things to consider before we arrive.
Please:
-
Have your horse clean and dry when I arrive at the barn. Wet, muddy legs and feet are difficult to hold and the work becomes dangerous. My tools also dull faster when working on muddy feet affecting their longevity.
-
Have you horse prepared to behave and be patient. It’s not our job or, responsibility to train a difficult horse. Unruly & dangerous behavior will not be tolerated for any reason. Sedatives should be administered if your horse needs them.
-
Think ahead to provide a safe, dry, clean, we’ll illuminated area to work; preferably out of the weather.
-
Remember, depending on the job, we may need access to electricity and water.
-
Let us know if your horse has behavioral issues, we like to know in advance.
Payment:
Payments are due upon completion of work unless prior arrangements are made. For your convenience, I kindly accept Cash, Check, or online payments via Paypal.
Appointments:
After completion of work I prefer to schedule the next appointment. This way your horse is kept on a schedule that promotes good hoof health. It also helps me group my appointments geographically in order to reduce travel time and fuel expenses. If you choose to call for an appointment at a later date, please allow 1-2 weeks prior notice.
Cancellations:
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment please call at least 24 hours in advance, unless of course you have an emergency. Each work day is planned in advance so, if you call the night before, or the day of scheduled work, it makes it difficult for me and other customers to adjust our schedules.
