About Andrew Grimm, Farrier

I began my “horse life” in 1999 while living in Austin, Texas. My first riding experiences was in East Texas, hunting and trapping wild bores on my first horse “Ol’ Gray”.
In 2000, I returned home to Maryland and purchased my 2nd horse Santana. I spent most of my evenings and weekends riding on local farm land and on the C&O canal. At this moment, I decided to pursue my dream; a career as a professional farrier where I could work with horses, support my family, and be around wonderful people all the time.
In 2001, I graduated from the Maryland Horseshoeing School. Upon graduation I became certified by the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association.
My first apprenticeship was at Charles Town Race Track (Charles Town, WV) working under Robbie Osment, Farrier. I soon completed the testing reqirements and recieved my race-track horse-shoeing license.
From 2002-2005 I apprenticed under well-respected, veteran farrier, Dick Davis, CJF, RJF of Williamsport, Maryland working on many types of horses in the Central, Western Maryland area.
In 2006, I became certified by the American Farriers Association. That same year I received the ’2006 High Points Certified Practical Exam award’.
In 2007, I became certified by the Guild of Professional Farriers Association.
In 2008, I married my wonderful wife Katie Grimm. We currently reside in Frederick Co., MD. with our daughter Zoey, two dogs (Roxy and Baron) and two cats (Ginger and Chloe).
Throughout my career I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet and sometimes work along side many great Farriers, Veterinarian’s, and Trainers who helped me along the way. I want to give a special thanks to them for taking the time to help others.
